In an era where sustainability is no longer optional, ACReSAL Kebbi State is leading by example. With a clear commitment to climate action, the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) has taken a bold step to reduce its carbon footprint by installing a 30 KVA solar power system.
This shift was not just about switching energy sources. It was a deliberate move toward environmental responsibility. By choosing a 30kVA solar system instead of a diesel generator, the project is avoiding an estimated 46.95 metric tons of CO₂ emissions every year. These are emissions that would have been released into the atmosphere if fossil fuel-based power had been used. This reduction is similar to planting more than 2,100 trees or preventing the emissions from driving over 187,000 kilometers in a typical passenger car each year. This proactive decision reinforces ACReSAL’s dedication to sustainability and climate action.
Today, clean and uninterrupted energy from the sun powers the entire office and enhancing productivity. This reflects ACReSAL’s mission to build climate resilience not only in the field but also at the heart of its operations. Thanks to Kebbi State’s abundant solar potential, with over 2,800 hours of sunshine annually and an average solar irradiance between 5.5 and 6.0 kilowatt-hours per square meter per day, the project is harnessing a natural resource that is both plentiful and reliable.
From powering computers and air conditioners to keeping the server room online, the 30 KVA solar installation now stands as a model for clean energy adoption in public institutions. It proves that sustainable development begins from within and strengthens the project’s advocacy for renewable energy solutions across communities.
