ACReSAL Kebbi SPMU pays stakeholder visit to Emir of Gwandu

[BIRNIN KEBBI, 15th November, 2023] – The Kebbi ACReSAL project took a significant step forward with a sensitization visit to His Royal Highness, Emir of Gwandu, Major General Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar (rtd) mni, Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Chiefs. Led by State Project Coordinator Ahmad Isa-Tela, the ACReSAL team received a gracious welcome at the Emir’s palace to initiate a discussion on the ACReSAL project within Birnin Kebbi and Gwandu Emirate.

During the visit, Ahmad Isa-Tela provided a detailed overview of ACReSAL’s components, highlighting its direct benefits to the Gwandu Emirate communities. Considering that the Emirate is a key stakeholder, discussions revolving around fostering peace-building mechanisms vital for successful project implementation were also discussed.

Recognizing the traditional institution’s pivotal role, the State Project Coordinator sought the Emir’s esteemed support for the project’s success in communities within Gwandu Emirate and Kebbi State.

In his response, the Emir of Gwandu, represented by Wazirin Gwandu, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar conveyed gratitude for Kebbi ACReSAL’s choice to involve the Emirate as key stakeholders in achieving the objectives of the project. He also cited prevalent environmental challenges in Birnin Kebbi and its environs which include flooding, erosion and challenges farmers faced due to climate change which has affected agricultural output and socio-economic development of Kebbi State. He appreciated the project’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges and pledged the unwavering support of the Emirate Council for the success of the project.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the ACReSAL team reaffirmed their dedication to collaborative efforts, aiming to advance sustainable development within Gwandu Emirate and Kebbi State.
