PRESS RELEASE: AGRO-CLIMATIC RESILIENCE IN SEMI-ARID LANDSCAPES (ACReSAL) KEBBI SPMU PROJECT DRIVERS CONCLUDE TRAINING ON DEFENSIVE DRIVING BY FRSC

Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, 18th May, 2024.

In a bid to bolster road safety measures and ensure the well-being of its drivers, officers and the community, the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) initiative partnered with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to provide defensive driving training for its drivers. The initiative aims to equip ACReSAL drivers with essential skills and knowledge to navigate Nigeria’s roads safely and efficiently, ultimately reducing road accidents and enhancing transport logistics for the project activities.

Under the supervision of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) led by CRC Hussaini Haruna (Staff Officer Operation) and ARC Ibrahim Abubakar (Training Officer), ACReSAL drivers underwent rigorous defensive driving training sessions held at the Conference Hall, ACReSAL Kebbi SPMU. The training covered various aspects of defensive driving techniques, including hazard perception, vehicle handling, emergency response, and traffic regulations compliance.
The training sessions incorporated practical exercises and theoretical lessons to convey comprehensive defensive driving skills to the ACReSAL drivers. Drivers received guidance on defensive driving strategies tailored to the unique challenges of project activities, such as navigating rural roads and ensuring vehicle maintenance in challenging environments.

Speaking on the importance of the training, the State Project Coordinator, Ahmad Isa-Tela, represented by the Communications Officer Awwal Hassan Wara emphasized ACReSAL’s commitment to prioritizing the safety of its drivers and promoting responsible driving practices. He stated, “The safety of our vehicles, drivers and the community is paramount to the success of our projects. By partnering with the FRSC for defensive driving training, we aim to enhance the skills and awareness of our drivers, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring the efficient movement of officers.”

As ACReSAL drivers complete their defensive driving training facilitated by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing road safety and promoting responsible driving practices. With the newly acquired skills and knowledge, ACReSAL drivers are better equipped to navigate Nigeria’s roads safely and contribute the overall success of the ACReSAL project in Kebbi State.
