ACReSAL Kebbi SPMU holds engagement session with Community Interest Groups in Zuru
[ZURU, 9th November, 2023] – The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL)
project held an engagement session with Community Interest Groups in Zuru.
During the visit, the team lead Ahmad Isa-Tela admonished the CIGs to fully take advantage of the
opportunities presented by FLID and CRF activities of the project. He also charged them on meeting
the requirements to access the different opportunities as the project continues to roll them out.
The focal person on agriculture of the ACReSAl project, Emmanuel Bonde shared with the CIG groups
the opportunities of Farmers Led Irrigation Development (FLID) which will help in irrigation farming
by individuals or small groups using their own irrigation systems most often small pumps and
pipelines.
The CIG groups were also introduced by the Natural Resource officer of the Project, Mustapha Yahuza
to the Community Revolving Fund which will support community/farmer groups to undertake
climate-smart agriculture related investment activities. The CRF would support ACRESAL registered
community/farmer groups in the 2 micro-watersheds of the project in Kebbi State.
In his presentation, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the project, Malam Armiya’u Ladan
shared with the CIGs some of the monitoring activities contributing to Result Framework indicators
such as increased capacity, and women-led/owned enterprises, cooperatives, and farmer groups
receiving financial and technical support. He also highlighted that Monitoring will be both through
institutional or professional-executed monitoring and participatory monitoring that leverages the
knowledge of beneficiaries and strengthens their capacity and commitment to the CRF.
Community procurement was discussed by Mal. Hamza Sama’ila Yeldu, Assistant Procurement
Officer of the project. He shared with the CIGs mechanisms that shall ensure that works carried out
and goods & services supplied meet the terms of the contract signed.
The engagement also had a question-and-answer session with the CIGs where clarification on blurred
areas were addressed by various officers of the project.
On behalf of the CIGs, Fatima Samiu Rikoto extended their appreciation to the project for availing
them the opportunities and pledged that they are fully ready to take advantage of them.
