ACReSAL Showcases Results-Based Climate Resilience Innovations at Argungu Fishing Festival 2026

The Kebbi State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project prominently featured its results-based interventions and knowledge-driven solutions at the Agricultural Show Pavilion of the Argungu Fishing Festival 2026, providing a strategic platform to demonstrate measurable progress toward climate resilience and sustainable landscape management.

The exhibition attracted policymakers, development partners, farmers, private sector actors, and members of the public across Kebbi State and beyond.

At the pavilion, ACReSAL presented structured impact banners detailing key performance outcomes across participating communities. The displays highlighted:

  • Landscape restoration initiatives (including Shelterbelt and afforestation interventions) totalling 16,651.43 hectares
  • Climate-smart agriculture support
  • Irrigation and water resource management systems totalling 3,056 hectares

The results were aligned with ACReSAL’s broader development objective of strengthening community resilience to climate variability while improving sustainable livelihoods.

A major highlight of the exhibition was the presentation of Geographic Information System (GIS)-based knowledge products, demonstrating how spatial data and digital tools are integrated into planning, targeting, monitoring and evaluation processes.

The GIS platform enables evidence-based decision-making, enhances transparency, and strengthens accountability in project implementation. This technology-driven approach ensures that interventions are data-informed, scalable, and measurable.

Visitors also engaged with video documentaries and multimedia presentations showcasing field-level implementation, beneficiary feedback and before-and-after transformation evidence from intervention sites across the State.Climate-Smart Technologies on Display

The pavilion further showcased modern climate-resilient technologies deployed under the project, including:

  • Solar-powered irrigation pumps supporting dry-season farming and reducing reliance on fossil fuels
  • Power tillers enhancing smallholder mechanization and productivity
  • Drones and precision equipment used for landscape monitoring, mapping, and performance tracking

These technologies underscore ACReSAL’s commitment to integrating innovation, renewable energy and precision agriculture into resilience-building strategies.

In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator (SPC) of ACReSAL Kebbi State stated that the participation at the Argungu Fishing Festival was intended to transparently showcase the project’s interventions, measurable impact and innovative tools that are advancing climate resilience in Kebbi State.

He emphasized that ACReSAL is not only implementing environmental restoration initiatives but is also building institutional systems, strengthening community ownership, and deploying knowledge-based solutions that ensure long-term sustainability.

The SPC further noted that platforms such as the Argungu Fishing Festival provide opportunities to deepen stakeholder engagement, foster cross-sector partnerships and promote public awareness of climate resilience investments.

The exhibition marked another milestone in demonstrating how integrated, data-driven, and community-centered approaches can accelerate resilience in semi-arid landscapes.
